State of the dv01 Union

When I started the company over four years ago, I always had a vision for what dv01 could become, but actually seeing it play out in front of my eyes has been a surreal experience. I feel like 2018 was that transformational year for our company, where we went from an idea that had real potential to an established business with over 50 people, operating across multiple asset classes and with triple digit revenue growth.
Online lending has been our focus for the last four years, we’ve continued to grow year over year and have firmly established ourselves as the leading data, reporting, and analytics platform in the space. That being said, 2018 was the year of mortgages for dv01. It was always our goal to earn the trust of the capital markets through online lending and show the market what a real user experience could look like, but we’ve always wanted to grow beyond into other, more established markets. In our first year alone we’ve done 8 mortgage transactions, for approximately $2.5bn, and we’re excited for all the partners we’re working with in this and feel really confident about our growth prospects in 2019.
More than anything else though, in 2018 we’ve seen the dv01 family more than double in size. We’ve grown from 33 to 54 employees, two of whom became first time dads this year! Our culture has continued to evolve and is the strongest driver of our business. I’m really fortunate to lead this team everyday and look forward to working with everyone who joins us along our way!

The Art of the Deal

dv01’s monthly reporting now spans 10 platforms and 140 deals, with the average time to create and tie out a report reduced by 75%. And with 150 deals currently available in our cashflow engine, our app can generate cashflows on 1 million loans in 15 seconds! We’ve also added support for ARMs and step rates as well as interest rates for ARMs and pricing.
On the Credit Facilities side, 2018 gave us $4.2 billion in total lender commitments, with clients advancing $3.2 billion. We also prepared 228 borrowing bases and 140 monthly reports, and will release our CF front end product in 2019.
dv01’s Intelligence group also made big moves in 2018 with the release of Performance Attribution and Anomaly Detection, marking some of the first efforts to introduce advanced modern portfolio management techniques into the MPL space. We also began a long-term effort to apply advanced statistical analysis and machine learning techniques to the mountain of data available at dv01 in an effort to improve scalability and efficiency, and have made significant strides in automatic data schema matching and automatic data validation that will continue into 2019.
